| A deadline is fast approaching on February 10 that could potentially be deadly for the youth motorcycle and ATV market. In less than a week, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008, enacted August 14 of last year, will go into effect and ban all products designed for children ages 12 or under which contain lead over specified limits. The Specialty Vehicle Institute of America and Motorcycle Industry Council are attempting to get an exemption for ATV and motorcycle parts. if you are a true motorcycle enthusiast this matter realy affects you, take action NOW! it takes less than 1 minute Please visit this link, at the rigth side of the article you will find instructions to send your message to legislators. THANK YOU!

spec bikes are finally here. Yes, I did get the PM. I haven't had any free time where I could make it down lately. I probably wouldn't be able to make it to the track for another couple of weeks anyway.

| Word on the street is that any small bikes have been pulled from showroom floors as of today. If you haven't followed thru on any of the links, do it now. Can somebody translate my post into Spanish to reach the rest of the audience on here? | |

| It looks like the parts fiche for small bikes is still working on the online bike sites, and I don't see any notice posted that parts for "child" bikes won't be available. From what I remember on our old 80's we had as kids, the stickers said they weren't for riders under 16 anyway. I wonder if there coupld be a loophole by just sticking "18 and older" stickers on everything. Also, does this have any impact on the sales of spec class bikes here? I dropped into Broward Motorsports today, but nobody knew anything about anything. I was curious to see what they'd say about this new lead mandate. They also had a very interesting DR650 with 17" excels, but nobody knew anything about it either | |

thank you Courtney, I ordered some aftermarket ones today, can you order me an oem KTM part? No can do on the KTM stuff, i can only get parts for the big 4, BTW, wasn't that you who PM'd me about those 150R hubs?? If you still want/need them i can bring them to Starke, just let me know before mid-week, send me a PM through the SMJ forum, for some reason my e mail doesn't get notified about PM's from the FLAMRA site.

| The end may be in sight for the "Lead Ban"
http://www.cpsc.gov/pr/nord040309exclusions.pdf
Somebody got the bright idea that kids will still want to ride, and will most likely end up on bikes that are too big for them if youth models aren't available.
